ADMISSION INFORMATION

1.0  Enquiries about admission into the Degree, Advanced Diploma, or Certificate course programmes, and also for short-term Courses should be addressed to:

Applicants may obtain Application forms from Admissions Office, the Catholic Secretariat (Kurasini, Dar es Salaam) or download from our website

1.2  Applications are invited from November to May of the year for which admission is sought. The academic year starts in late September.

1.3  Candidates wishing to join the Review Courses for NBAA/NBMM Examinations must submit their applications at least three months before the courses begin in September and/or January.

1.4  Duly filled-in application forms should be submitted to the Admissions Officer with the following supporting documents to reach the University as early as possible.

(i)      Two passport-size photographs,

      (ii) Names of two referees, who have known the applicant and are able to evaluate the applicant’s ability for the course being sought,

(iii) Copies of all educational certificates, relevant testimonials, and so forth,

(iv) A medical certification from a recognised hospital.  

(v) An endorsement and/or letter from the sponsor/employer or guardian confirming his/her        readiness to sponsor the applicant.

(vi) A text of 500-700 words written by the applicant to tell about his/her life, experiences, goals and reasons for seeking the programme of studies he/she wants to take

(vii)A non-refundable Application fee of Tshs 20,000 or US$ 25 should accompany the application

1.5  Candidates for admission to SAUT are expected, if notified, to sit for the University’s Aptitude Test (Mature Entry Examination). A fee as determined by the Council shall be charged for each candidate.

1.6  When the admission dossier is complete and final results of the Aptitude Tests are obtained, the University will proceed to its evaluation.  If this proves satisfactory, the University will notify the applicant of his/her acceptance and will send appropriate Joining Instructions, either directly or through the applicant’s sponsor or guardian.

1.7  A candidate is required to confirm his/her acceptance of the Admission Offer within the period prescribed in the Joining Instructions by sending or bringing a non-refundable Selection Fee of Tshs. 10,000 in case of Tanzanians or US $25.00 in the case of foreign students. If a candidate fails to do so, the University will offer the admission to candidates on the reserve list without further notice.

1.8  Enrolment may be deferred for only one academic year, after which a new application for admission is required.

1.9  All new students must arrive one week before the start of classes for the New Students Orientation.

1.10     Travel and other arrangements.

      (i)   Students should make their own travel arrangements to the campus of SAUT and should be sure they have enough pocket money for expenses

      (ii)  Students from countries other than Tanzania are expected to conform to all immigration formalities in their countries before they depart for Tanzania. They must also obtain a Residence Permit from the nearest Tanzanian Embassy or High Commission before they arrive. This should be done at the earliest possible date. It is advisable when travelling to Tanzania that one keeps readily available his/her travel documents as well as evidence from SAUT to confirm that he/she has been offered admission.  One should also have details of financial support, in case these documents are required at the port of entry by the immigration authorities.
