Introduction
The mission of the University’s Library system located on the
Nyegezi and Malimbe sites of the campus is to support the academic
activities, namely, teaching, learning and research. The Library
plays a central role in promoting academic excellence. It is an
organic combination of people, collection and facilities, whose
purpose is to help users in the process of transforming information
into knowledge. Information and knowledge are central to attainment
of the University’s mission and vision.
The library has both printed and
electronic source of information. Staff and students are free to
access them. The collection comprises of books, Journals, Magazines,
Newspapers. Electronic sources are e-journals and CDs.

collection is organized according to Dewey Decimal Classification
Scheme (DDC).

Library
services
|
| The library
offers services to all the University community. Use of the library is
open to all staff and students at SAUT. The students and staff are
required to obtain reader’s cards that enable them to borrow books
and use journals and short loan material. The library cards are not
transferable, Library user is responsible for materials issued on
it. |

loan collection |
|
The library
has a short loan collection. Materials in this section are used within
the library. Books in short loan section are in higher demand by
users.

| Reference
collection |
| The library
has number of reference materials, both general and specific. Any
book/document in this section should not taken outside the library |

| Printed
Journals |
| The library
has number of printed journals and periodicals related to SAUT
curriculum. These enable faculty members to do their research and help
students in their studies. |

| Catalogue |
| The library
has Online Public Access catalogue and card catalogue. Library
database contains books, journals and research reports. Library
users are free to search information by using library database. The
database enables users to have a list of books in a particular
topic |

e-Journals databases
|
| SAUT library
through PERI subscribes to a number of electronic databases. Library
users access thousands of abstract and full text electronic journals.
To access the databases the user needs user name and password.

Library
regulations
The library
has regulations and procedures for the users. Failure to abide by
regulations may lead to one losing membership in the library.
