FACULTY DEAN
MESSAGE FROM THE DEAN OF SCHOOL

Dear colleagues, continuing students and new students, I am extremely pleased to welcome you all to the School of Law at St. Augustine University of Tanzania for the new academic year 2022/2023. Congratulations to our new students, first for getting your place at the university and then for having the good sense to study law.

Our university puts the students at the centre of everything it does; your experience here at SAUT and your success are significant and valid. Your entry into University marks another milestone chapter in your life history. But this chapter is a bit different. You have the opportunity to determine the direction, the plot and the tempo of your story. This can seem as daunting as it is exciting, as challenging as it is empowering. But the great thing is that you are doing something that you have chosen to do, not something that was chosen for you by others.

At SAUT, you will have the opportunity to learn new things, acquire new knowledge, develop new skills, and enhance your attributes in profound ways that will equip you for life after University. Furthermore, all measures of student success are on the upswing, and our research and scholarly enterprises are growing. Many of you are part of that critical investment, and we are very excited that you chose to join us. I hope you will take a moment to read SAUT’s Prospectus for 2022/2023, which paves a path for future opportunities and influence within the University.

Please know that we have invested in your success and look forward to the many ways you will enhance the academic learning and discovery environment at SAUT. We offer many support systems to assist you, so please do not hesitate to ask for help and advice. I also want you to know that there is an abundance of support services available to you. Contact your student advisor, a lecturer or a tutor. There are learning centres at the University like IT and Library to provide support if you require it.

My office will be reaching out to you during the academic year to set up an informal gathering with the Dean, Associate Deans of students and the entire school’s academic staff so that we have an opportunity to get to know each other. In the meantime, I wish you the best as you make a smooth transition to SAUT- thank you again for joining us! I look forward to meeting each of you whenever is necessary.
