Radio SAUT FM is both a community and institution radio station owned by Tanzania Episcopal conference under St Augustine University of Tanzania, It Started its trial basis on May 2nd, 1998, after 9 days Tanzania broadcasting commission allowed the station to go on air official.

At the time the station started, it was known as Radio Nyanza Means Lake in swahili “Ziwa” under Nyegezi Social Training Institute (NSTI), On Nov 1998, NSTI was accredited to University from institution and named after St. Augustine (St Augustine university of Tanzania-SAUT). The owner of the institution which is TEC decided to change its original name Nyanza Radio to Radio SAUT. TEC gave that name after the name of the university.

Radio SAUT is located within the University main campus known as Malimbe at Nyamagana District in Mwanza City; it is estimated to about 13 km from Mwanza town.
