STUDENT ADMINISTRATION

The Student Administration is headed by the Dean of Students, deals primarily with the personal and social welfare aspects of the student's life. The following facilities are provided by the office of Dean of Students: students accomodation (Hostels), games and sport, worship, student counseling in various problems and career guidance. The Dean of Students also assists in student disciplinary matters.

HOSTELS

Hostels rooms are available on application before the beginning of the academic year. Accommodation is therefore not guaranteed for every student. Students are urged to find their own accommodation outside the campus in case the inside hostels are full.

Payment of accomodation is made to the University directed accounts

No student will be given a room inside the campus until s/he has paid the prescribed rent. Priority for on-campus accommodation will be given to students with disabilities, foreign students, and female students .

Student Activities

Most of the student activities are organized by SAUTSO, the students union. The students organization is concerned with the students; academic, political, social and recreational activities. Students are encouraged to form academic/professional organizations. They are also encouraged to form and join social organizations that have been registered. New social and academic organizations are registered with the Dean of Students office.

Games and Sports

The University main campus has some of the best sporting facilities in the country including soccer pitches, netball and basketball courts. However, most of these facilities require intensive rehabilitation. A gymnasium where badminton, squash and weight lifting can be held is in place. Students can therefore participate in football, basketball, netball.

Religious Activities

Students and staff of the University have complete freedom of worship based on their spiritual beliefs, within the limitations of the laws of the country and Student By-Laws. At the SAUT Main campus, there is a Mosque for Moslems, whereas Christians worship services are conducted at the the Catholic church nearby hostels and Joint Christian Chapel in one of the classes.

Catering

The University offers cafeteria services with all meals to students at subsidised rates. The meals are paid for at the cafeteria counters. There are three cafeterias and a number of canteens on the main campus which have the capacity to serve the present student population.

MEDICAL SERVICES

SAUT provides health services to students and staff member, staff family through its dispensary, and the general public. The Centre is located within SAUT Main campus.SAUT Dispensary operates on a twenty-four hour basis.

SAUT Library is an academic unit which is fully involved in teaching, research and consultancy. The primary role of the Library is to provide information services to support teaching, learning and research functions of the University. These include books, journals, research reports, government and university publications.

The Library has several sections: Arts and Social Sciences, Law, Science and Engineering, Reference, Business and religion. These collections consist of books, journals and other materials in their respective subject areas, both in print and electronic versions. They are self-sustaining service units which provide specialized services to users undertaking research and courses in various subject areas.

The Library provides both print and electronic information services to its users. The services provided include: Lending Services, Document Delivery, E-mail and Internet. The library also has a repository which can be accessed by its users online

WORSHIP AND SPIRITUAL COUNSELING SERVICES

STATIONERIES, PRINTING AND PHOTOCOPYING

There are a number of University operating photocopying services situated within the campus, which offer reasonable price to staff and students. Almost all major academic units and offices have photocopying facilities, which are dedicated to staff members, other printing, photocopy and stationery service are operated by the private enterprises and are located on campus and in the neighbourhood.

SAUT staff and students can access services of major banks CRDB, NBC and NMB.
