Doctor of Philosophy in Mass Communication

PhD is a “taught doctorate” with four semesters of coursework, followed by a comprehensive research proposal defense in a departmental seminar. This is followed by thesis writing and a viva voce examination which shall take place only after the Senate Higher Degrees Committee and the Senate have been satisfied that the thesis submitted by a candidate is considered by the examiners to be of acceptable academic and research standards.
Admission Requirements
Minimum Entry Qualifications:
Applicants for the Doctor of Philosophy degree (PhD) at St. Augustine University of Tanzania shall be holders of relevant Master degree with a minimum of upper second class and a GPA of 3.5 (on a 5-point scale) or its equivalent from a recognized higher learning institution.
Good English language proficiency that shall be tested through an appropriate test to be decided by each department or school.
A concept note that shall be evaluated and approved by experts in the relevant field of study.
